We hope you like the tour around the school campus of the Elementary school in Biolley on the short flim clip of the Biolley School posted on Vimeo at: http://vimeo.com/biolleybuzz and on our Facebook group “Biolley farms and La Amistad International Park”. On our next trip to Biolley, we plan to bring 10 used laptops and educational software for the kids to use in school.

In rural areas such as Biolley, 2 in every 3 kids make it to the obligatory 6th grade level of schooling and 1 in every 3 go beyond that. 50% is the average attendance in school. Help us get these kids hooked on a future with education. By learning the basics in computer operation and our support, these kids have a better chance at staying interested in school and continuing their education.

The Biolley elementary school has a very dedicated educational coordinator who shares her office that doubles as the music room. She makes sure families are involved in their children’s education. She needs our support!

Here is what the kids need:

Minimum requirements for donation laptops:
1. PCs only, no Macs please
2. Machine in good working order, including display
3. Windows XP or higher operating system
4. 300 Mhz Pentium, or faster
5. 128 Mb RAM, or more
6. 3 Gb hard disk, or more
7. CD or CD/DVD reader
8. Sound card
9. Internal speakers, working headphone out jack

Educational Software
1.Educational-Games in English or Spanish
2. Typing tutor CDs for kids (Simple English games)
3. Educational DVD movies
4. Science, technology and geography CDs or DVDs (Spanish)
5. Discovery, Animal Planet, National Geographic DVDs (Spanish subtitles)
6. Books on CD English/Spanish

Follow up in June: We plan to record a follow up film after the kids receive the software and computers to present to you on Facebook.
